Riste Andrievski

Riste Andrievski (b. 1973) is an Australian photographer and print maker, born in Macedonia and based in Wollongong. Raised speaking two languages, Andrievski's images communicate, through the visual - the ideas that might otherwise be lost in the space between languages and cultures.

His artistic practice focuses on photography and printmaking. Photography is the art medium he was drawn to, with its strong graphic pictorial expressive narrative, it enables him to tell his story. His work centres on notions of identity, in particular the influence that landscape has on identity and self. A surrounding landscape is a significant aspect of the formation of culture and with it the development of the individual.

Riste Andrievski, he has exhibited at Australian regional galleries and has been a finalist in many awards, including National Photographic Portrait Prize, The Bowness photographic prize, Olive Cotton Portrait Prize the Brisbane Portrait Prize and the Percival Photographic Portrait Prize. Riste’s photographs have been published in various books and catalogues, documenting some of Australia’s prominent individuals in the arts.
